Though "officially" it is the second weekend of jun, due to the pentacost long weekend we agreed to postpone it one week.
The BPCraft Club will held its annual World Wide Knit In Public day in the California Cafe by the Bazilika (Szt István tér) on the 18th of jun, at 3 PM. The place has inside tables as well as outside ones, so we are set for all types of weather.

As usual, its not only knitting...we will be happy to see everybody with all knids of crafts, spinning, crochet, embroidery, beads and all the likes...

If you are a beginner, we will be happy to show how to get started, if you have a question, got stuck with your project someone will have an idea how to solve it.

A BP Craft Club, az idén a nyilvásos kötás világnapját a California Kávézóban tartja, a Bazilikánál, (a Szt István téren) tarja június 18.-án, délután három órakor. A kávézóban szabadtéri és belső asztalok is vannak, így bármilyen időjárás esetére jók vagyunk.

Szokás szerint nem csak kötéssel várunk, the horgolással, fonással, hízéssel, gyöngyökkel, vagy bármi ilyesmivel.

Ha kezdő vagy szívesen segítünk az első lépésekkel, ha kérdésed van, vagy elakadtál, biztos lesz valakinek ötlete hogyan oldd meg.

Last week, the circumstances were not ideal at the California Cafe, so we decided to go back to the Costa by the Nyugati station for now, until we figure out what to do, where to go next.

Well, we've been talking about this for a while, now the girls said it is time for a change.
From this week the meetings are still on wednesday nights, but the place will be the COSTA CAFE next to the Westend Train station.
Be aware it has two floors, so if you cannot see us at the ground level do check out the first floor too for the girls with the pointy sticks!

Ok, már egy ideje beszéltünk erről, de most a lányok megszavazták, itt az ideje a váltásnak.
Ettől a héttől kezdve a találkozók még mindig szerdámként, de a Nyugati Pályaudvar melletti COSTA CAFE-ban lesznek! Vigyázat! A kávézó többszintes, ha nem láttok a földszinten, akkor a emeleten keressétek a kötőtű-csattogtató társaságot!

Guys, Unfortunately the schedule at my work is very unpredictable, and the early days of the week are usually crazy busy, so I don't always have the time to post.
BUT, unless it is noted here otherwise, the meetings are still on EVERY wednesday afternoon from 5.15PM.
For now it is still the California Cafe by the Bazilika.

EXTRA WEEKEND MEETING!!!!

We've been talking about this a while, but now as the summer vacations and travels are over, it is becoming a reality...
There was a lot of comments, that some would like to join us, but unable to do so during weekdays. Now we are planning a more or less regular (like once a month or so) extra weekend meeting.
The first one of these will be on this saturday, 28th of september. 3PM in the California Cafe. Everybody is more than welcome, and we are planning a raffle too.

Már egy ideje beszélgettünk erről, és most, hogy a szabadságok, utazások véget érnek valósággá is válik.
Többen is jelezték, hogy szívesen csatlakoznának, de hétközben nem tudják megtenni. Ezért tervezünk egy többé kevésbé rendszeres (mondjuk havonta egy?) hétvégi extra találkozót.
Az első alkalommal ezen a szombaton (szeptember 28.-án( délután három órakor a California Cafe-ban a Bazilikánál.
Mindenkit várunk, és közkívánatra tombola is lesz!

ETA: Természetesen, mint mindig, minden találkozó, NYILVÁNOS, tehát nagyon szívesen várunk minden kézimunkázót, akár ezen a szombaton, akár a rendszeres szerdai találkozókon is!

WWKIP day was, that is...as there was sixteen of us at the end. Yes, sixteen I was overwhelmed, and so happy I didn't gave it up years ago. So many people I couldn't even get everyone on one picture, but I hope there will be more uploaded. Ok, beszéltem a kávézóval, és azt igérték még asztalt is foglalnak nekünk a WWKIP napra, csak azt kellene megmondanunk nagyjából mennyien leszünk... Most fogalmam sincs, hogy öten vagy tizenöten...
Ezért azt szeretném kérni dobjatok egy rövid (akár egyszavas - mint "jövök") megjegyzést, hogy tudjuk hány emberrel számolhatunk...
Ez csak egy amolyan felmérés, nem jelenti, hogy ha most nem szóltok nem jöhettek, vagy fordítva...

Well, I've talked to the guys in the cafe and they would reserve a table(s) for us, but we should be able to give them a ballpark figure on how many are expected. So please drop a quick note/comment if you are planning to join so we would have an estimate. Azaz a Kössünk Nyilvánosan Nemzetközi Napja...
Ez az a nap amikor kötősök, horgolósok, fonósok fogják a tűjüket, fonalukat, orsójukat miegymásukat) és kivonulnak valamilyen nyilvános helyre kötni.
A klubunk a maga szerény módján már kétszer megtartotta, de mindig bízom abban, ahogy a kötés kis hazánkban is egyre népszerűbbé válik, talán több csatlakozó is lesz.

2010-ben tehát JÚNIUS 12-én tartjuk délután háromkor, Budapesten, a Szent István Téri California Cafe-ban. Lesz sorsolás, (magán gyűjteményből felajánlott fonalak), sőt az idén támogatóra is akadtunk, a BARKAFONAL ajánlott négy motring kézzel festett gyapjúfonalat, amit szintén kisorsolunk. (Köszönjük Gabi!)

Ha valaki most szeretné kipóbálni a kötés alapjait, szívesen megmutatjuk.
Én, amennyiben van érdeklődés hozok gyapjút és orsót, így a fonás is megtekinthető, kipróbálható lesz.

Since the weather is still pretty unstable, we are going to meet in the Cafe heaven around six on 14th of april.

Re Zazálea's comment: The club was started when through Ravelry an american girl visiting Hungary asked me and Kriszta if we want to get toogether and knit some public place, let's say in a cafe. She left after three weeks, but we stayed and kept on meeting and knitting together. People are coming and going, some were only passing through the city and joined us for one night, some were exchange student staying for a year, but we were happy they joined us.
The club doesn't have a strick structure, but since along with Kriszta I am one of the "founders" and I am one of the most active members Dinara appointed me as "the organizer"... Taking my cue (and getting tired of having to call around about the meeting place) I've put the blog up, where everyone can see when and where we meet next time. Telling the truth there were times when it looked there will be no members, and times when I just wanted to give up and knit at home... It changed when we were sitting in one wednesday night and someone with a wide smile walked up to us asking if we are the knitting club, because she is reading the blog and could she knit with us... That seemed the turning pointThere are no rules for new members. We call it "Craft Club" and not knitting club for a reason. Of course we mostly knit, but whatever craft one does (mainly knitting, crocheting, beads, embroidery, spinning), if she (or he for that matter) willing to sit with us in a cafe and do it, anyone is welcome! Actually every new member is cause for celebration. the more the merrier.
So please feel free and come and join us!!! Most of us speaks English as well as Hungarian, so everyone can have a conversation, but if you just want to sit and knit that is fine too.

A klub igazából „véletlenül” kezdődött, amikor a Ravelry-n keresztül egy éppen Budapestre készülő amerikai leányzó megkeresett és azt kérdezte lenne-e kedvem együtt kötni vele, akár valami nyilvános helyen, mondjuk egy kávézóban. Az adott találkozón Kriszta csatlakozott hozzánk. . Amanda három hét után elment, de mi továbbra is összejártunk és kötögettünk. Jópáran jöttek-mentek, voltak akik átutazóban ültek le velünk egy estére, volt aki csere-diákként egy évig is velünk volt, de mindenkit szeretünk..
A klubnak nincs szigorú szervezete, de mivel Krisztával az alapító tagok közé tartozom, és talán én járok a leggyakrabban, Dinara egyszre kijelölt „szrevezőnek”. Vettem a lapot és összeraktam ezt a blogot (legalább nem kellett hetente mindenkit végogtelefonálnom hol és mikor találkozunk). Persze, az igazat megvallva voltak olyan idők amikor úgy látszott érdeklődés hiányában nem lesz klub (azért valahogy legalább egy-két tag mindig megjelent), sokszor gondoltam arra, feadom, bezárom a bazárt és maradok otthon kötni. Aztán egyszer, ahogy ott ültünk egy sötéthajú hölgy széles mosollyal odajött hozzánk azt kérdezve : Ti vagytok a kötős klub? Rendszeresen olvassa a blogot, és most itt van néhány napra, csatlakozhatna-e? Ez így utólag olyan fordulópontnak tűnt.
Nincsenek szabályok. Új tagokra sem.Nem véletlen, hogy „Craft club”-nak (kézműves klub) hívjuk, nem Kötős klubnak. Persze leginkább kötünk, de akármit csinálsz (kötés, horgolás, gyöngyök, hímzés, fonás... csak amik így hirtelen eszembe jutnak), és hajlandó vagy egy nyilvános helyen (többnyire kávézókban) , társaságban tenni ezt, boldogan várunk. Minél több annál jobb!
Ne tévesszen meg a főleg angolul írt blog. Eleinte többet beszéltünk angolul, mint magyarul, de ma ez már nem így van. Akárangolul akár magayrul lehet beszélgetni, de ha valaki csak leül és köt (vagy mást) annak is örülünk.

Which is not as new, because we've been there quite a few times last year. California Coffee is great for spring and summer, but I thought in the winter it would be more comfortable, to get somewhere which is more easily reached for the most of us.
So for next week (20th of january) we are going to meet in the Cafe Heaven on the Teréz krt 34. (it is between the south side of the "Nagykörút" , between the Octogon and the Nyugati).

Last wednesday we set a record... we had about eight knitters/crocheters sitting around the table!!! We had some lovely guests, with whom it was a joy to meet...

And to reply to some comments, of course there is always room for new faces (as long as you keep my place in the corner of the sofa ;-) LOL) and we speak Hungarian as well as English, so nobody will have to worry...

OMG, we had such a lovely meeting last week. Six knitter (umm four knitter, and two crocheters, but who is counting... whoever crafts and wants to come is welcome), three kids and even a husband... it was a lovely and lively evening...

For whatever reason from where I am now, so here is a new post...

D.P: Yes, we will (hopefully) keep meeting as long as there is at least two of us ...we always love to have guests, visitors, new members, whatever else... I will always post here where we are meeting next, but if you look me up on ravelry I will send you my phone-number, just to make sure...as I have a tendency to put up the notes at the last minute (and no other member does it in my place..hint, hint :-)

Everybody, there is a nice looking sock yarn sale here, go see, it definitely worth it.

Gabi, there are some new yarns at the second hand shop and now there is a few skein that would be suitable for felting. I got some of it, but there is still enough left (mainly mustard, and a bit of blue and mauve) to worth the trip there.

Gabi, I am sorry you couldn't join us today it was fun! There were FIVE of us!!! Carola from Germany and Marian from estonia dropped in. After having so many meetings with only two or three of us there, it felt like a CROWD...LOL.
BTW how old is the "kid"?? I have an eight year old son who will be with us, I usually let him loose on th eplayground which is visible from the cafe...

To keep Carola entertained we will held an extra meeting today, in the Szabadsag tér cafe at 5.45 PM.

As for last week, (I can't post comments from here) yes we were there, first we were eating and then we were knitting and crocheting. We did sit inside though (because of the heat) on the sofa closer to the Bazilika...
In fact we had a great surprise as a lady walked up to us and asked if we are the club, because she read about us on Ravelry and then she checked this blog.
Terri was very nice and friendly, it was a joy to have her as a guest, and I am so sorry if someone else missed us, because we always love to have more people with us.

I will be there this week! Anett, could you bring a 3.5mm crochet needle? Then you could show me how to crochet round the neck of my blackberry. :)

As for the future, maybe a two-weekly midweek meeting would be a good idea. I like the sound of occasional weekend events. But I am leaving at the end of June (huge sobs), so very little change would apply much to me for long.

I think WWKIP day is a great idea, I'd like to do something. What about the Szabadsag ter cafe again? Looked nice last time!

But there are a few questions I would like to ask...

As much as I love Cafe Heaven (and the earl grey lavander tea they have) lately it started to get a bit too noisy and crowded... Add to this that spring finally arrived, Jenny and I were talking about a bit of change. Yesterday enjoying the first nice day in this year I was walking around, and saw the new California Cafe at the Szt István Tér (right across Cafe Negro). It has nice sofas inside and armchairs outside, so we can decide to sit inside or outside depending on the weather.

So on april 8th it is California Cafe on St.István tér. For me it will take a bit longer to reach, so let's make it 5.45 PM, OK.

March is about to end. There is no reason to leave our wools if for nothing else, this awful weather still requires us to wear not only sweaters bit coats, and jackets too. One of the few things to be happy about is that last week's knitting club there were others beside me and Jenny...Nicole was there, and Tanja finally joined us again, and there was Rachel from Ohio :-)))
