And to reply to some comments, of course there is always room for new faces (as long as you keep my place in the corner of the sofa ;-) LOL) and we speak Hungarian as well as English, so nobody will have to worry...

I can't comment

For whatever reason from where I am now, so here is a new post...

D.P: Yes, we will (hopefully) keep meeting as long as there is at least two of us ...we always love to have guests, visitors, new members, whatever else... I will always post here where we are meeting next, but if you look me up on ravelry I will send you my phone-number, just to make sure...as I have a tendency to put up the notes at the last minute (and no other member does it in my place..hint, hint :-)

Everybody, there is a nice looking sock yarn sale here, go see, it definitely worth it.

Gabi, there are some new yarns at the second hand shop and now there is a few skein that would be suitable for felting. I got some of it, but there is still enough left (mainly mustard, and a bit of blue and mauve) to worth the trip there.

See everyone tomorrow at the California Cafe.

Thursday, August 13, 2009

Just a few things...

Next week, for the sake of variety we are going to meet at the California Cafe at the Bazilika...Of course the time is the usual. 5.45 PM.

Last wednesday was lovely... Marion came, and Gabi finally showed up :-))) Glad to have a new member... and Natalia of course.

And here is a few links, especially for Gabi (forgot to get you email, or phone-number, sorry)...
Anyway.
The Ebay store by the lovely chinese lady is here. She sells lovely stuff at great prices, and the service is the best! If you want some help with any order jut let me know.
The place on E-bay, where I got my orange Trekking sock-yarn is here. They also have Lambs Pride wool, which is great for felting.
The socks I was knitting is this and I was talking about this felted bag and these felted clogs.

An extra meeting today!!!

Gabi, I am sorry you couldn't join us today it was fun! There were FIVE of us!!! Carola from Germany and Marian from estonia dropped in. After having so many meetings with only two or three of us there, it felt like a CROWD...LOL.
BTW how old is the "kid"?? I have an eight year old son who will be with us, I usually let him loose on th eplayground which is visible from the cafe...

To keep Carola entertained we will held an extra meeting today, in the Szabadsag tér cafe at 5.45 PM.
So come and join us!!!

Tuesday, July 21, 2009

This week is different!!!

We ARE oing to meet in the cafe in the middle of the Szabadság tér (really close to the US embassy) at 5.45... if it is possible we will try to get a seat in the south side, the one which is closer to the playgrounds (I will have Christopher with me(

As for last week, (I can't post comments from here) yes we were there, first we were eating and then we were knitting and crocheting. We did sit inside though (because of the heat) on the sofa closer to the Bazilika...
In fact we had a great surprise as a lady walked up to us and asked if we are the club, because she read about us on Ravelry and then she checked this blog.
Terri was very nice and friendly, it was a joy to have her as a guest, and I am so sorry if someone else missed us, because we always love to have more people with us.

Old-New place next week

We are going back for a while to the cafe in the middle of the Szabadság tér. Not because we don't love the California Cafe, I think it is one of the best places we had been, but I also liked the Szabadság tér, so we go there to see.

WWKIP photos

Hey everyone... we did it...however small our group is, but we still knitted in public... here is some proof (Pictures were shot by my son, Christopher... I guess by now we could name him as our official photografer :-)))... Here we sitting in the California Cafe where we moved inside because of the wind:

Our latest member, Natalia, with her gorgeous lace project:

We had some kids with us (Kriszta'a boys, and my son too):

Then when the kids grew restless, and the wind seemed to subside we moved to Szabadság tér, where palygrouds abound... The wind decided to come up promptly:

Cafe, guests, knitting, etc...

The last couple of meetings were real, real fun! Thank you for everyone who came by, as a member as well as a guest.... as we had a couple of guests also! There is only one thing more exciting than meeting old friends fro a good knit-out, is when someone comes up to out table and asks "are you the knitters?"
And we also have a new member!!! Natalia from New-Mexico, welcome!!! I hope we can see you often from now own... (and selfishly I also hope that with Jenny going---please, please stay with us!) I will still have someone to knit with...
And as for the other members, Tania, Dinara, Kriszta, Nicole we miss you!

Ok, now for practicalities... next week is the usual, California Cafe, Szt. István tér, 5.45.

Future

I will be there this week! Anett, could you bring a 3.5mm crochet needle? Then you could show me how to crochet round the neck of my blackberry. :)

As for the future, maybe a two-weekly midweek meeting would be a good idea. I like the sound of occasional weekend events. But I am leaving at the end of June (huge sobs), so very little change would apply much to me for long.

I think WWKIP day is a great idea, I'd like to do something. What about the Szabadsag ter cafe again? Looked nice last time!

Monday, April 20, 2009

april 22

The same place, California Cafe, in Szt István tér at the Bazilika. But it is 5.45 PM (fifteen minutes later than usual, because i will not be able to make it sooner... the chance of being late is still there.

But there are a few questions I would like to ask...
Mainly because most of the times there are only Jenny and me is there... and as I stated I do love to spend time with her...
-Should we do this every second week?
-Should we add a weekend meeting, like once a month?
-Should we just cancel the whole thing?

Oh and what about WWKIP day... do we want to do it?

Change of Scene!!!

As much as I love Cafe Heaven (and the earl grey lavander tea they have) lately it started to get a bit too noisy and crowded... Add to this that spring finally arrived, Jenny and I were talking about a bit of change. Yesterday enjoying the first nice day in this year I was walking around, and saw the new California Cafe at the Szt István Tér (right across Cafe Negro). It has nice sofas inside and armchairs outside, so we can decide to sit inside or outside depending on the weather.

So on april 8th it is California Cafe on St.István tér. For me it will take a bit longer to reach, so let's make it 5.45 PM, OK.

Ezen a héten a Stent István téri (a Bazilikánál) California Cafe-ban találkozunk du. 5.45-kor.

End of march

March is about to end. There is no reason to leave our wools if for nothing else, this awful weather still requires us to wear not only sweaters bit coats, and jackets too. One of the few things to be happy about is that last week's knitting club there were others beside me and Jenny...Nicole was there, and Tanja finally joined us again, and there was Rachel from Ohio :-)))
Here are some pictures...

BTW the next meeting is in the same place (Cafe Heaven, april1st, 5.30.).

Friday, March 20, 2009

march 25th

Yes, it is 5.30 again, and cafe heaven again...
And hopefully we will have a guest!
(Rachel we can't wait tosee you! Do come and see us!)

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

march 18th.

Cafe heaven, 5.30PM.
Will anybody come?

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Almost forgot... march 11

Sometimes I do wonder if I should keep this up... I used to call everyone around, now I post about our meetings regularly, and still... most of the time we are happy if there is someone else there beside me and Jenny... Not that I don't love her company, I do enjoy it tremendously, but it would be lovely to see more faces around...
Anyway, this Wednesday is the usual. Cafe Heaven, 5.30 PM.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

You asked for it...

Anna (Bananaknits), here is a picture of our today's meeting... there were only three of us there, and the Kriszta held the camera. It is me and Jenny knitting in the cafe:

First of all, Jenny the blanket is absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to see it in real life!
Our next meeting will the usual, if you all have no other suggestion. Cafe Heaven, Wednesday, 5.30PM.

Saturday, February 21, 2009

The blanket is done!

At last! I can dance in triumph, according to the pattern. The baby (not mine!) was born on Wednesday, and I finally finished the blanket this morning, Saturday. I will bring it with me next Wednesday.

Friday, February 13, 2009

I'll be there on 18th, and I may even bring my blanket. ;-)

Febr. 18.

same place, same time, OK girls?

Saturday, February 7, 2009

February 11

Will the same time, same place suit everyone?
5.30 PM on Wednesday in the Cafe Heaven?

I hope I will be OK enough by then to join you all. I missed the last week's meeting so much!

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Small is beautiful?

Where are you all?? I sat in the cafe and knitted alone for forty-five whole minutes, then Nicole joined me, but still, only two of us. We had a good knit and natter, but would love more people to come next time.

There were two little children whose mother brought them over to say hello, but the little girl got shy. Her mum explained, "She's been wanting to come and ask you what you're making". Actually, it's socks, but that's only because they're portable. The baby blanket, for my friend who is due in less than two weeks (aaargh!), is now more than half done, but is way, way too complicated to bring out of the house.

Sunday, February 1, 2009

What a nice crowd, I miss our circle a lot. Unfortunately, my family has the flu one member after the other so I could not make time to join. Next Wednesday I will be there. Krisztina

Friday, January 30, 2009

Next week

The next week we are meeting on Wednesday (Feb. 4th) in the same cafe (Cafe Heaven in Teréz krt, between the Nyugati and the Oktogon), at 5.30 PM.

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

What a night!

The club is really international... Tonight we had guests... from Alaska! A ravelry friend of mine has an aunt who was travelling to Hungary. Teal was sending me a package with her (details about that are on my blog ) but it turned out she is also a knitter, so I invited her to our knitting night!
Here she is with her friend:

After such a long hiatus Dinara finally joined us again:

And here is our lovely English lady, Jenny:

(Pictures are shot by my son, Christopher. Very well done for an eight year old I guess)

Saturday, January 24, 2009

A note from Amanda...

I've written to Amanda (the girl who brought us together with Kriszta), and this is part of her reply:

Thanks for writing. I am so glad to see you guys are still meeting. I also looked at the site. It’s a great idea. I also noticed you but me as the honorary founder, and I was so deeply moved I teared up. I am just so glad to have motivated knitters to meet and work together. It makes me so proud.
As of late the economy is crashing, so I have just been working a lot. I am working at a zoo making all the food for the animals, and at a bakery in the afternoons. I hope that when things even out a little more the zoo will bring me on full time. I am also trying to knit all the yarn I bought while I was in Europe, but it is a lot of yarn and i don’t get to knit but so much with all the working.

Amanda, I do think of you as our founder, because without you the group wouldn't exist...

Our next meeting

We was about to cancel our next meeting when... I have an Internet friend in Alaska, Teal, whose aunt is here in Hungary and would join us. It would be a shame to miss an opportunity like that, so I called Jenny and set up the meeting. Because of the parental meeting in my son's school I can't make it earlier than 6, so we are going to meet in Cofe Heaven (Which is in the Nagykörút, about halfway between the Nyugati (Westend station) and the Octogon on the side of the even numbers. Can't wait to see you all!

Welcome!!!

After so many times of thinking and talking about this I finally managed to put this up.
We've had our little club for almost a year now. Three of us started it Amanda (who is back in the US since), Kriszta, and I(Anett). Then Dinara came, and Genia (who left for Geneva since), Nicole, Modestine, and Jenny, with an occasional visit from Tania, and Suad.
Naturally we always look out for new members. Any new members are WELCOME!

There is no real rules, except we knit. I named it Craft Club, because we wouldn't chase away nobody who would love to join us, but crochets or embroiders, or does some other craft.

We speak several languages, but there is always someone who speaks English and someone who speaks Hungarian.

This site is to keep up with each other, announce what happens, when, where is the next meeting, and things like that.

Come, join us!

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Hello everyone!

Finally I managed to put this up.
